Gerrards Cross is a civil parish, one of 12 in South Bucks District. GXTC consists of 12 elected councillors, assisted by two part-time staff. Its major aim is to keep GX a pleasant place to live and, were possible, to improve its amenities. It manages the commons and ponds of GX and it also owns and manages The Camp, an early British Iron Age fort covering more than 10 hectares. Street lighting, other than on trunk roads, is maintained by the Town Council. It also inspects footpaths and acts to prevent them being overgrown by hedges or undergrowth.
Full meetings of the Town Council are held on the third Monday of each month, except for August. Members of the public are welcome to attend these and all committee meetings and to speak if they let the chairman know in advance. There is also an Annual Town Council Meeting in April or May, specifically to give residents the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.
