Group singing is so beneficial to our wellbeing and has been scientifically proven to provide a wealth of physical and psychological health benefits, including:
- Reducing pain (singing releases endorphins, the body’s natural pain killer)
- Reducing stress (singing has been proven to lower cortisol levels)
- Lifting our mood
- Promoting deep breathing (great for managing anxiety or lung conditions)
- Improving immunity
- Lowering blood pressure
- Improving posture
- Making us feel better!
In fact, one recent study showed that group singing is as beneficial to our health as yoga!
Sing Your Pain Away is a group singing class for wellbeing, health and fun. With equal amounts of singing and laughter, the aim is to promote wellbeing, not get everything note perfect.
At Sing Your Pain Away we teach you some breathing technique & some singing technique and we learn uplifting songs that we sing in unison or simple harmonies that everyone can enjoy. Even if you think you can’t sing, you’ll still get the health benefits, and in fact most of our members really surprise themselves with how much they can achieve vocally with a little tuition!
Everyone is welcome with or without pain, and regardless of singing ability!
We are currently meeting on Zoom each Thursday at 2:45pm and plan to return to the Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre once indoor singing is permitted again.
