ART IN BRITAIN - 8 AUGUST

Tutor: Joan Greening BA(Hons), MA, has taught Art History at GXCA for thirty years. She has now retired but is still passionate about promoting British Artists. She spends some of her time lecturing on Art and often takes people on tours of various galleries. An award-winning playwright, she has written for television, and many of her plays are about art and artists. This year she has a play at the Edinburgh Fringe - ‘A Montage of Monet’.
Description: This course will be looking at some of the famous and not so famous art galleries in Britain. Much of the art will be by British artists but not all. The galleries that will be included will be Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Tate Britian, Fitzwilliam Cambridge, The Wallace Collection and Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh with a few surprises along the way! The history of the painting will be explained along with a short biography of the artist. This course is suitable for all students whether they are starting on their art journey or a long way through it!
