Give a little time, and help GXCA thrive
GXCA is run by its community, for its community. From our annual jumble sale to the gardens, the café and behind-the-scenes admin, almost everything that happens here is powered by volunteers.
There is a role to suit every skill, interest and level of energy - and no experience is needed for most of them. Whatever time you can spare, you will be made welcome and part of a friendly team.

Jumble Sale
The annual GXCA jumble sale takes a lot of planning and work, but is a lovely chance to meet new people and be part of a wonderful team raising huge funds for GXCA. We need all sorts of skills - selling tickets, setting up tables and stalls, moving stock from storage, sorting and pricing donations, catering for customers and volunteers, and tidying up at the end. The marquees are put up by contractors, so volunteers would not be expected to do that.
Gardening
At GXCA we have beautiful gardens that are tended by paid gardeners. We welcome volunteers for watering duties and planting of the planters dotted about the site.
Event Setup
Our events need volunteers to help set up beforehand and put everything away afterwards, from laying tables and serving drinks to shifting chairs and marshalling the car park. Duties can be light or more hands on, and it's a lovely chance to work alongside others and add to our guests' experience.
Café/Bar Staff
Our café manager and catering assistant always welcome volunteers to help serve burgers and hot dogs at Community events such as the Summer Fair, Classic Car Show and Fireworks. We also need bar staff for events and to cover our regular team during holidays. No experience necessary, we'll teach you. A great way to join a friendly team and meet our customers.
Maintenance
Our lovely Community building needs constant care to keep it at its best. We'd welcome help with minor repairs and smaller jobs: touching up paintwork, putting up shelving and noticeboards, or tidying and reorganising our storage areas. A hand with the garden and grounds is always appreciated.
Admin
Help with promotion and regular sponsorship would be hugely valued, as would administrative support with bookkeeping, document organisation and signage. We'd also welcome help organising events such as the Summer School and Santa's Grotto, plus possible new ventures like Teen Camps and Escape Rooms.
