Gerrards Cross Summer Fair: A Fun-Filled Day For The Whole Community

Summer is the perfect time to get outdoors, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy everything the local community has to offer. This August, Gerrards Cross Community Association (GXCA) is bringing everyone together for the Gerrards Cross Summer Fair, with a full day of entertainment, activities, competitions, food and family fun.

Taking place on Sunday 30th August from 11am to 4pm, the Summer Fair will transform the green spaces around the Memorial Centre into a lively community event with something for all ages. From live performances and children's activities to creative competitions and the much-loved Dog Show, there will be plenty happening throughout the day.

When And Where Is The Gerrards Cross Summer Fair?

The Gerrards Cross Summer Fair will take place on Sunday 30th August, from 11am until 4pm, at GXCA, 8 East Common, Gerrards Cross.

The event is designed to have an outdoor festival atmosphere, making use of the surrounding green spaces. Of course, British summer weather isn't always predictable, so marquees and indoor areas will also be available if needed.

Entry is £2 per person, with children under eight able to attend for free. All proceeds from admission will go towards community projects.

Enjoy A Packed Programme Of Live Entertainment

There will be plenty to see throughout the day, with the Performance Zone hosting a varied programme of entertainment.

Visitors can look forward to live music, local youth theatre performances, Bollywood dancing, Bhangra dancing, martial arts, Tai Chi and a colourful floral demonstration, among other activities.

With such a varied programme, families can move between performances throughout the day and discover something different each time.

Plenty To Keep Children Entertained

The Children's Zone will provide younger visitors with their own dedicated area packed with activities.

Children can enjoy:

• A bouncy castle

• An obstacle course

• Arts and crafts

• Face painting

• An ice cream stand

It's a great opportunity for younger members of the community to enjoy an active day outdoors while parents and family members explore the rest of the fair.

Explore The Main Fields

There's even more happening across the main fields. Visitors will be able to browse the Shopping and Stall Avenue, discover local clubs and societies and enjoy a selection of food and refreshments.

The main fields will also feature food trucks, an outdoor bar, BBQ, ice cream, table tennis, a rodeo bull and even an adult obstacle course.

With a mixture of entertainment, activities, shopping and food, there will be plenty of reasons to explore the entire fair.

Take A Break In The Picnic Zone

With so much happening, you'll probably want somewhere to sit down and recharge. The Summer Fair will feature a shaded Picnic Zone with outdoor seating, providing a comfortable spot to enjoy food and take in the atmosphere.

Whether you're stopping for lunch or simply taking a break between activities, the picnic area provides a relaxed meeting point for friends and family during the day.

Get Creative With The Summer Fair Competitions

One of the highlights of this year's event is the wide selection of friendly competitions for adults and children. Adults aged 16 and over can enter categories covering baking, horticulture, flowers and art. From Victoria sponges, homemade jams and handcrafted bread to floral arrangements and artwork inspired by the natural world, there are plenty of opportunities to put your creativity to the test.

There are dedicated competitions for younger entrants too. Children under seven can enter categories including a wildflower posy, an animal picture, a decorated biscuit and a painted pebble. Children aged 7–11 and 12–16 can take part in challenges involving flowers, artwork, baking and horticulture. All work entered must be the entrant's own, and prizes will be available for the winners.

Enter Your Four-Legged Friend Into The Dog Show

The Summer Fair wouldn't be complete without the Dog Show.

Local dogs will have the chance to compete across a range of fun categories, including Most Stunning Small Dog, Best Looking Big Dog, Puppy Love, Dog Most Like Its Owner, Waggiest Tail, Top Rescue Story, Glorious Golden Oldie and Coolest Trick.

Entry costs £1 per dog, and owners can pre-register or register on the day.

Whether your dog has an impressive trick, an irresistible wagging tail or simply knows how to charm a crowd, it's a fun opportunity to get involved.

Discover Local Clubs And Societies

The Summer Fair is also about celebrating the people and organisations that make Gerrards Cross such an active community.

GXCA is bringing together many of the clubs and societies that regularly meet and use the facilities at the Memorial Centre. Visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about what's happening locally and perhaps discover a new activity, hobby or group to join.

It's a chance for existing members to come together while also introducing more people to the wide variety of activities available through GXCA.
