Our History
Serving Gerrards Cross for 80+ Years
Gerrards Cross Community Association (GXCA) was founded in 1947 to bring the local community together, advance education and provide a home for clubs, societies and social life in Gerrards Cross.
Our site overlooks the Common, with parking for more than 100 vehicles. Both main buildings are living war memorials. The building beside the tennis courts was bought by public subscription in memory of those lost in the First World War. The main building, dating from around 1750 and once the parish vicarage, was acquired from the Church of England in memory of the parishioners who died in the Second World War.
Today the Memorial Centre is home to dozens of special interest clubs, hosts public and private events, and runs a full programme of adult education classes.
Nearly eighty years on, the purpose has not changed: a meeting place that keeps community spirit alive in Gerrards Cross.
