DRAWING BIRDS IN GRAPHITE PENCIL - 29th JULY

Tutor: David Lewry, BA (Hons), SWSBA, UKCPS, runs a number of very successful classes and workshops in watercolour and drawing. He tutors on cruise ships where he has inspired many people to take up an exciting new hobby. As an accomplished Botanical Artist, he was awarded a silver medal by the Royal Horticultural Society in 2009 and has contributed illustrations to several award-winning books and magazines.
Description: Students will be introduced to a simple method of drawing birds which catches their dynamic movement and individual characteristics. Using simple materials anybody can quickly produce convincing bird studies that could form part of a sketchbook or worked up into finished drawings or paintings. They will be guided through a series of exercises and techniques culminating in a full study of a specific bird drawn from scratch. Your tutor is an experienced wildlife and botanical artist who runs many successful online classes and tutorials for adult beginners and more experienced leisure artists.
Level of course: Details to follow
Student requirements: Several sheets of good quality cartridge paper, at least A4 size (can be individual sheets in a sketchbook), Graphite Pencils 2H, HB, 2B and 6B, pencil sharpener, ruler and eraser.
