INTRODUCTION TO BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION- 28 JULY
Date: Monday 28th July
Tutor: David Lewry, BA (Hons), SWSBA, UKCPS, runs a number of very successful classes and workshops in watercolour and drawing. He tutors on cruise ships where he has inspired many people to take up an exciting new hobby. As an accomplished Botanical Artist, he was awarded a silver medal by the Royal Horticultural Society in 2009 and has contributed illustrations to several award-winning books and magazines.
Description: Students will be given a brief history of botanical illustration and the methods and standards employed by artists practising this fascinating and absorbing art form. They will then be guided through a series of exercises demonstrating the techniques required before producing their own drawing of a botanical subject. By using coloured pencils, it is possible for anybody to achieve excellent results without any previous experience or having to master complicated painting skills. The course will also appeal to more experienced artists seeking to expand their range of subjects. Your tutor is an award-winning botanical artist with extensive teaching experience including working at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
