LINE DRAWING AND MARK MAKING - 7 AUGUST

Date: Thursday, 7th August

Tutor: Alison Ward has been a teacher of art throughout her career, teaching up  to A level in a wide variety of secondary schools and colleges and has delivered  workshops in Scotland. She teaches all aspects of drawing, painting and  printmaking, helping people of all ages and abilities to develop the confidence to  enjoy being creative, teaching them the skills needed to express themselves  visually, in a non-judgemental, relaxed atmosphere.

Description: Even before we could walk, as children we loved to draw, yet this confidence  diminishes with age and many adults will insist that they ‘can’t draw’. This course  is designed to reignite that love of drawing, teaching mark-making and linear  drawing techniques to build confidence. Then, taking inspiration from Van  Gogh’s linear studies created in preparation for his landscape paintings, you will  develop your own linear landscape.

You may bring your own photographs of landscapes to work from if you wish (for  example, a view from a window at home, or an exotic landscape from a holiday  destination), but there will be images to choose from on the day if you prefer.

Level of course: Details to follow

Student requirements: Please bring a pencil and eraser, plus a selection of  black ink pens, such as fine liners, biros, fountain pens, etc.

The schedule: Details to follow
